Jan. 8th-12th

Happy New Year!!!! 

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I had a great holiday spent a lot of time with family and friends. I am ready for a great 2nd semester.  I can't wait to see my students and see how much they have grown over the break. 

This week, we will be reviewing in math and writing.  In reading we are switching unit 5 and 6 in wonders.  Unit 6 is about weather and seasons. Unit 5 is about living and non living.  We will be reviewing digraphs (ch, sh, wh, ck, and th)

I am changing reading groups based the MOY DIBELS SCORES. I am very proud of your children. Everyone made growth.  Those scores will be coming home in Friday folders.

In writing we are still working on "How To"

In Math we are reviewing teen numbers and continuing to work on telling an addition and subtraction story problem. 

We will also be spending time reviewing classroom and school wide expectations.

Sight Wordsthe, see, can, a, I, like, we, to, go, and, you, and do. Please have your child practice the sight words. They can write the sight words on index cards to make flash cards. They can trace them in salt. The new sight words for unit 6 are is, little, he, with.  

Specials Schedule:  Our class is divided in half each day. Half of the class goes with Mrs. Zarlengo's class and the other half goes with Mrs. Mink's class.

Dec. 11th-15th



We have been busy in math, reading, and writing. In writing we have been learning to write How To's. We have been learning in whole group How To make a sandwich, brush teeth, blow bubbles, and make cookies. We will be continuing to learn to write How To's and eventually the students will write their own.

We have been having fun with communities and working in groups to build our own communities. They shared their communities in front of the class.  They were great!

Monday we will be having fun with science. We will be learning fun things about Push and Pull.

Letters: We have finished learning all the letters and sounds.However, we will continue to build real and nonsense words to learn the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in a spoken word.

We will be learning Digraphs. Ch, Sh, Th, Ck, Wh.

Sight Words: the, see, can, a, I, like, we, to, go, and, you, and do. Please have your child practice the sight words. They can write the sight words on index cards to make flash cards. They can trace them in salt.

on Monday 12/11 Colorado Rockies Mascot will be visiting Three Creeks.

This week I will be mid year testing the students in MAPS (math testing). They will be testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. This test will help me where their strengths and weaknesses are. I can help them meet their math goals for the end of the year.

Dec. 4th - 8th


What a great week back! We were busy in math, writing, and guided reading.  We jumped right in after the break without blinking.   

I apologize, I told you last week in my blog that we started a unit in science on push and pull. We are starting push and pull this week.

We have been doing a fun unit on communities. They have been learning about community helpers. We have been writing about which community helper we want to be when we grow up. Please get on seesaw to see the picture that your child drew.

Ipad: They will come home this week. They will be doing work on a writing app. 

What we know:

Nov. 27th-Dec. 1st

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  I can't wait to see everyone and hear all about their time with family and friends.

We will be starting a fun Push and Pull unit in science. We will continue to work on writing in our journals. During guided reading they will be receiving a new book. Please read with them each night and have them return the books each day. we will be doing different activities that require them to have their book each day.

Ipads: I will be sending ipads home this week. They will be doing math activities on a math app. I will let your child know which app they will using.

We will continue to blend sounds in a spoken word.

November 13th-17th

We had another amazing week. The book fair started on Friday and we made our wish list. In class we have been learning about Thanksgiving in the past, present, and future.  We are doing fun activities to help us with this social studies activity.

Your child came home with their ipads today. Please have your child sign on and read the books I have assigned to them. Then they can go on to Doodle Buddy and any app on their ipad. Please charge ipads each night and return them to school each day.

We had a great week! We have been moving along smoothly in math, reading, and writing. Continue to work with your child at home. Practice the sight words and read with them each night. They will be coming home with a book each night in a baggie. Please read with them each night. Please return the book each day. We do an activity with the books each day.
