Ipads will be coming home so they can read their books on their ipads. Please have them read to you each night and then ask them questions about what they have read to you. This will help with comprehension.

Hello Parents;

I hope you had a great weekend! April is starting to cruise on by. Please make sure you check the important dates at the bottom of this blog so you can put those dates on your calendars.

Essential Question: Our question for the week is "what do good citizens do? "

Reading this week will be on ipads. Tonight they need to charge their ipad and then go into Wonders or Raz Kids and read their books at least 5 times.  Your child knows which app to go into.

We are working on reading fluently and retell. After your child reads to you, have them retell the story to you. Ask them questions like: Who are the characters? Where does the story take place? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end. This will help them with the retell of a story.

Math: Math this week is describing 3D shapes and finding authentic shapes that are 3D around our home and classroom.
We are continuing to master addition and subtraction thru story problems. We also touched on greater than less than.

Writing non fiction: We have been learning about non-fiction writing in whole group. Now we are doing our very own non-fiction writing. I have assigned everyone an animal that they are researching in class. My half day students will get their animal tomorrow.
They are getting the information off of Pebble Go. By the end of the week we should be done with our non-fiction book.  They are very excited about this activity. I can't wait for them to share it with you.
