May 21st-May 24th

Hello Parents;

I can't believe this will be my last weekly update of the year. Where did the school year go?

I have enjoyed teaching, learning, and growing each day with your children. They are truly amazing children. I am very proud of each one of them. They have worked so very hard each and everyday.  Thank you for trusting them with me. I will miss them and you very much!
I will be visiting them next year while they are in first grade. I am only doors away. I love you all very much.

In reading we are reading books in Raz Kids. We are still working on fluency and comprehension.
Books will be on ipads and won't be coming home. However, I will print a copy of the book for them to take home each night. They can keep the book at the end of the week.

In math we are practicing all the math concepts we have been learning. Story problems, teen numbers,  partners of 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10, attributes of 3D shapes, and addition and subtraction skills.

In writing we will be writing in our journals and mastering the conventions and mechanics of writing.  Checking our work to make  sure we have a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, finger spaces between words, and punctuation marks at the end of each sentence.

May 14th-May 18th

Hello Parents!!!

I can't believe we only have 8 days of school. Where did the time go. Anyway, I am so proud of all of them. They have made growth academically and socially.  They are ready for First Grade. With 8 days left we still have books coming home to read. We will be writing in our journals and practicing the concepts that we learned in math.  Lots of review, but it is needed.

Reading: In guided reading we are still focusing on fluency and comprehension. Your child won't be bringing their ipads home, but they will be bringing home a book this week and next week. When we are finished with the books they can keep them at home I don't need them back. They need to read with you at least five times a night. This will help with fluency. Ask them question about the book. Who are the characters? Where does the story take place? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end?

Sight Words: Please continue to practice all the sight words each night. If they know the sight words well, then review them once in a while so they don't forget. Here are the sight words we have learned.  I, can, the, see, a, like, to, and, you, go, do, my are, he, with, little, she, was, for, have, of, they, said, want, here, me, this, what, help, too, come, good, and that.

Math: We are reviewing in math. Unit 5 is all review of the math concepts we learned in unit 4. Partners of 10, partners of 3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9. 3D shapes, story problems, and addition and subtraction.

Writing:  We finished our non-fiction writing. They did an amazing job on their non-fiction writing. Now we are concentrating on our writing mechanics: capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, spaces between words, and punctuation at the end of each sentence. Pictures need to be detailed and match our writing.
