April 16th-20th

Hello Parents, I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. My weekend was busy. I was busy getting things for my sons Senior prom. It was exciting and bittersweet since it will be his last. Now I am focusing on graduation. Crazy where does the time go.

This week in Wonders are Essential Question of the week is: How Can Things In Nature Be Used To Make New Things?

Reading each group is working very hard to get a 3 or 4 in fluency. We are working hard on comprehension and to get a 3 or 4. Comprehension is more challenging but we are making great progress.  Each group will have a book assigned to them on Wonders or Raz kids this week. Ipads will be coming home so they can read their books on their ipads. Please have them read to you each night and then ask them questions about what they have read to you. This will help with comprehension.

Writing we are finishing up our non-fiction writing. They are really working hard on this book. I am so proud.  Your child came home with a small rubric that shows how they are doing with the writing conventions: Capital, spaces, and punctuation.

Math is more work on addition and subtraction and mastering this concept. Last week we worked on 3D shapes and everyone is doing very well. I sent home a rubric that showed how they are doing in story problems.

Science: We have been learning about living and non-living. We have been observing caterpillars and a few have changed into a chrysalis They are enjoying this activity so much.
