Week of October 16th thru 20

We had a great week! We have been doing fun activities in reading and math. We had a visit from the Arvada Fire Dept. on Thursday. They enjoyed the visit and learned a lot. Please don't forget to register your child for the field trip on Wednesday Oct.18th. Parents are welcome to meet us at the pumpkin patch. We cannot have parents ride the bus with us.  If you are joining us at the pumpkin patch, then you will need to pay for yourself when you get there.

What we know:

Letters: We have been been learning the sounds and recognizing the letters, t, b, f, m, n, u, i, o, c, s, a, e, and r.  Help your child recognize letters and their sounds. Have them say the letter, the picture, and then the sound the letter makes. For example, t, top, /t/. This week we are adding the letters e and r.

Sight Words: the, see, can, a, I, and like. Please have your child practice the sight words. They can write the sight words on index cards to make flash cards. They can trace them in salt. We are adding more sight words the week of Oct.23.

Specials Schedule:  Our class is divided in half each day. Half of the class goes with Mrs. Zarlengo's class and the other half goes with Mrs. Mink's class.

Group Three will go with Mrs. Mink's class. They will go to:

Group one with go with Miss Zarlengo's class to:

Important Dates:

October 18th Kindergarten Pumpkin Patch field trip.
October 19th Parent Teacher Conferences
October 20th No school, Parent Teacher conferences
October 27th Three Creeks Fall Festival (evening event)
October 31st Halloween party (morning party)

Please make sure you are looking inside your child's backpack daily. Some reading groups will be coming home with a book for practice. Help them by having them point under each word as they are reading to you. This helps them understand the voice to print. Have them point out the sight words that we have been learning so far.  Please have them put the book back in the plastic baggie and then in their backpacks. We will be reading the book in reading groups everyday.

Have Super Week!  I look froward to talking with you about your child at conferences. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Always,

Mrs. Dahman
