Dear Parents;
Thank you for coming to Back to School Night last week. It was a huge success and I am so proud of my class. They did a wonderful job showing you their classroom and the different things we are doing.
What we know:
Letters: We have been been learning the sounds and recognizing the letters, t,b, f, m, n, u, and i. Help your child recognize letters and their sounds. Have them say the letter, the picture, and then the sound the letter makes. For example, t, top, /t/.
Sight Words: the, see, can, and I. Please have your child practice the sight words. They can write the sight words index cards to make flash cards. They can trace them in salt.

Things to Remember:
We are starting are learning centers in reading and math. In reading, the students have been placed into their groups. Please check your child back pack each night. Students will be coming home with a large plastic baggie with a book. Please read the book with your child. We have been leaning how to hold a book and the direction of reading (left to right). They will point to each word with their pointer finger, while the other hand holds the book down. Pointing under each word will help them learn voice to print recognition. I ask the students to read the book 5 times each night, then bring the book back the next day in the baggie.
Ipads: We are starting to do math activities on the ipads. They will be starting to do some writing and reading activities this week on their ipads.
